Lexi Gauger
I am a first-year M.S. student in the Gonthier Lab at the University of Kentucky. I am studying Entomology for my M.S. program, and studied Sustainable Agriculture and Entomology at the University of Kentucky for my Bachelor's degree. During my undergraduate years, I worked with the Gonthier Lab as an undergraduate research assistant. I was a 2019 NSF GRFP fellow studying honey bee ecology with the Tarpy Lab at North Carolina State University, and a 2021 NSF GRFP fellow studying black soldier flies with the Alyokhin Lab at the University of Maine. Currently, I am a fellow with the Food Connection Graduate Fellowship in Food Systems and a Singletary Fellow at UK.
My current research with the Gonthier Lab focuses on IPM techniques in cucurbit crops. Specifically, I study the use of mesotunnels in cucurbit crops. I also have an interest in pollinator ecology. Future research will focus on pollinator health and diversity within mesotunnels and strategies to improve pollinator health in mesotunnel systems.
