Dr. Lois Wright Morton is a Professor Emeritus of Sociology at Iowa State University in the Department of Sociology, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Her research in the sociology of agriculture, natural resources, and ecosystems focuses on soil, water and natural resource management, farmer decision making and performance-based agricultural environmental management in small scale watersheds, impacts of long-term weather change on agricultural land use management, rural communities and rural quality of life. She has published over 90 journal articles; and authored/co-authored seven books including, Pathways to Better Water Quality: The Citizen Effect (2011 Springer), and Managing Mississippi and Ohio River Landscapes (2016 Soil &Water Conservation Society). As professor emeritus, Dr. Morton continues to conduct research and publish on working agricultural lands, specialty crops and climate change, and reimaging rural places and people. In retirement, she lives in Northeast Ohio, Ashtabula County, where she owns a small-scale blueberry farm and produces berries for local markets.
